1910
Giuseppe and Civita Cavicchio emigrate from Italy to Sudbury, cultivating 56 acres of orchards and fields and selling their produce in Boston.
1938
The 1938 hurricane destroyed most of the apple orchard, forcing the Cavicchios to pivot to vegetables, which the family grew and delivered daily to Boston markets.
Giuseppe Cavicchio preserved Sudbury’s agricultural roots by refusing Henry Ford’s offer—worth 13 times the land’s value—to build a factory, keeping the town rural and sending Ford to Michigan instead.
1953
Joe Luna is hired to support growing, field production, and Boston deliveries. Retiring in 2015 after 60+ years.
1960
Operations are expanded to include bedding plants, vegetables, and perennials.
1970
The farm grows to 90+ acres with 120,000 sq. ft. of greenhouses, adding winter squash, pumpkins, and poinsettias.
1980
Production grows from 20,000 pots per year to 80,000 per day. Tommy Mellish and Victor Vazquez pioneer automated perennial potting, including a robotic planting machine.
1983
Paul meets Tom Cottens.
‘Jumbo Annuals’ are introduced—becoming an industry standard.
1987
The Pickup Area is created. Lico Cano leads its growth. The farm expands to 90 acres with
154,200 sq. ft. of greenhouse space and 20 employees.
1990
The Landscpe Supply division launches. Lorem ipsum dolor sit .
2003
Nursery division launches. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
2010
The farm grows to 250 acres, with 10 acres of advanced greenhouses and 300+ peak-season employees.
2015
Leominster Growing Facility – Adds 3.5 acres of fields and
3.5 acres of greenhouses with full production and shipping, nearly doubling spring production.
2019
Lancaster Growing Facility – Focuses on producing over 5 million mums annually, managing all stages from growing to delivery.
2021
North Carolina Growing Facility – A 100-acre site expanding production of tropicals, roses, and seasonal plants.

Under Paul Cavicchio Jr.’s leadership, the farm blends tradition with innovation, supported by a diverse 500-person peak-season team dedicated to quality and service.Today, operations span nearly 350 acres across four locations, producing 12 million pots annually across 2,950 varieties and setting the standard for annuals, perennials, tropicals, and roses in the region.

They set the high standard for which Cavicchio Greenhouses’ products are known, using their diverse skillsets, adaptability, and experience every day, year-round, to produce the best annuals, perennials, tropicals, and roses in the region.
Our customers are as diverse as the plant varieties we grow. Our specialized sales divisions and shopping areas ensure that each customer, whether they are a big box store or independent landscape designer, gets precisely the high-quality products they are looking for and the service experience that best suits them.
The Pickup Area Greenhouse is where customers shop seasonal items such as annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, tropicals, pottery, soils, and holiday products. PUA Sales Representatives provide excellent customer service and must stay knowledgeable
about a wide, constantly changing inventory
The Landscape Supply and Stone Yard offers an extensive selection of top-quality products including natural stone, concrete pavers and wall blocks, outdoor kitchen and fireplace products, lighting, bagged cement, fertilizer, grass seed, ice melt, tools and equipment, and much more.
Our 36-acre Lincoln Road Nursery features large nursery items, including B&B and container trees and shrubs. Sales Representatives guide customers through the yard
and help integrate these products into landscape designs.
